IN MEMORIAM Prof. Dr. Romas Pakalnis
Prof. Dr. Romas Pakalnis, naturalist, landscape ecologist, environmental expert, public figure, member of the Sąjūdis Initiative Group and of Sąjūdis Seimas, patient Teacher, sincere and demanding Colleague, and the Dreamer full of optimism and love to Lithuania, passed away in the early hours of the morning of the 20th of September.
Joint workshop of Nature Research Centre and Kuršių Nerija National Park
On 10 September 2020, Juodkrantė hosted a joint workshop of Nature Research Centre and Kuršių Nerija National Park administration. During the workshop, Nature Research Centre's Director, Prof. Dr. (HP) Sigitas Podėnas, Deputy Director for Experimental Development, Dr. Ričardas Paškauskas, and heads of divisions of the centre presented to the Kuršių Nerija National Park administration an overview of scientific research pursued in the Curonian Spit, the objects and scope of research, and the possibilities of collaboration with the national park, seeking to increase knowledge of unique natural objects, raise public awareness and spotlight the importance of preservation of unique natural objects in the Curonian Spit and surrounding water bodies.

Lithuanian wolf population exceeding 500 in recent years
According to an article published in the Wildlife Research journal, the Lithuanian wolf population increased from 400 individuals in 2015 to 600 individuals in 2018, and the number of wolf packs was estimated to be at least 100 by 2018.
