Competition for the position of the Director of the Nature Research Centre
Pursuant to Order No. ISAK-2463 “On the Approval of the Description of the Procedure for Holding a Selection of the Director of the State Research Institute by Way of an Open Competition Procedure” of the Minister of Education and Science of 1 December 2009 and Order No. P1-281 of the Minister of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Lithuania “On the Approval of Qualification Requirements for the Position of the Director of the Centre for Innovative Medicine” of 31 October 2019, the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Lithuania has announced a competition for the position of the Director of the Nature Research Centre.

Lithuania constantly raises the question of chemical weapon dumped in the Baltic Sea
On 26 November, during the Conference of the State Parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention in Hague, the Lithuanian and Polish permanent representative offices at the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) initiated a discussion, where a junior researcher of Nature Research Centre's Laboratory of Genotoxicology, Janina Pažusienė, delivered a presentation "Research on Genotoxicity and Cytotoxicity Impacts of CWAs on Marine Organism".
Artificial breeding of brown trout in Trakų Vokė completed
The specialists of Trakų Vokė subdivision of the Eastern Region Pisciculture Division of the Fisheries Service at the Ministry of Agriculture together with researchers from Nature Research Centre's Laboratory of Genotoxicology and Laboratory of Fish Ecology, Dr Milda Stankevičiūtė, Dr Gintarė Sauliutė and Tomas Makaras, completed brown trout artificial breeding. This will allow to determine the status of artificially bred fish and evaluate the control/background levels of early genetic biomarkers in fish. Pond water samples will serve for identification of the species of oomycetes (aquatic microbiotaa). Investigation of species diversity of oomycetes will be carried out in cooperation with a researcher form Nature Research Centre's Laboratory of Mycology, Dr Svetlana Markovskaja.
